Welcome to Skiddle: Magna Science Adventure Centre

Off the top of our heads, we can’t recall too many event venues where industrial heritage, interactive science and seriously memorable experiences come together to create something truly special and unique. But then again, there aren’t many venues quite like Magna Science Adventure Centre.

We’re delighted to welcome the Rotherham landmark to Skiddle as our latest event partner.

Housed within the former Templeborough Steelworks, Magna occupies a spectacular piece of South Yorkshire history. The site was once home to one of the largest electric steel plants in the world, before being transformed into the award-winning visitor attraction and events venue people know today. And what a transformation it has been.

By day, Magna invites families to explore the forces of Air, Earth, Fire and Water through four interactive pavilions. Visitors can get hands-on with science and technology, experience the power of the venue’s original electric arc furnace through The Big Melt and uncover the story of the people who shaped the region’s steelmaking heritage.

Beyond the attraction, Magna’s vast industrial spaces provide a suitably dramatic backdrop for an incredibly varied events programme.

Its venues, including the monumental Big Hall, atmospheric Red Hall and distinctive Face of Steel, can be adapted for a number of different occasions. From exhibitions, awards ceremonies and product launches to weddings, parties and other large-scale celebrations. That versatility is a huge part of Magna’s appeal. Few venues can move so naturally between education and live entertainment, all while retaining such a strong connection to the history and identity of their local area.

As if all the aforementioned wasn’t enough, Magna is also a registered charity, helping to preserve South Yorkshire’s steelmaking story and pass it on to future generations.

Richard Hammill, Chief Executive Officer at Magna, commented on the venue’s new working relationship with Skiddle:

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Skiddle as we continue to grow and develop Magna’s events programme. Skiddle’s expertise, reach and understanding of the live events market will help us bring even more exciting events to our unique venue, while giving audiences an easy and familiar way to discover and book them. We’re looking forward to working together and seeing where the partnership takes us.”

We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with the Magna team and supporting the next chapter of their events journey.

Keep up with Magna on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn, and watch this space for upcoming events.
