PayPal and how it can help promoters

We’ve got some special news: PayPal recently launched at checkout.
For the past few months, our development team have worked tirelessly to bring PayPal to checkout. There’s been lots of testing to get to this point, and since launch, we’ve seen 35% of customers use PayPal to buy festival tickets and 15% of customers use it to buy tickets for events across the board.
PayPal will sit alongside Apple/Google Pay and regular Debit/Credit card payment methods on the website, giving our customers flexibility, speed and ease of access when they arrive at checkout.
But there’s benefits for you, the promoter, too. We’ll get into these below, so scroll down and reap the benefits.
First up? Conversions.
PayPal streamlines the buying process. Customers can add the ticket to their basket and pay directly from their PayPal wallet or with a saved card. Think about it. The easier the customer experience, the more likely they’ll buy.
Naturally, your conversions have a higher chance of increasing. Your customers will remember how easy it was to buy; they might tell their friends and possibly use it when purchasing a ticket to another one of your events.
Pay In 3
We’re also offering ‘Pay Later with PayPal Pay in 3’. This is for orders between £30 and £2,000 and lets your customers pay for a ticket in three interest-free payments. Got a festival coming up? Pay In 3 is perfect.
Customers can make a last-minute purchase free from the drawbacks of spending a large amount of money in a short space of time. They’ll be able to budget easier, and you can take advantage of the increased interest in events around festival season or for last-minute plans.
But don’t worry: you’ll receive the full face value of the ticket. With Pay In 3, the customer has an agreement with PayPal to pay the remaining cost of the ticket. Any payment issues will be resolved between the customer and PayPal. What’s more, it can be used right up until the day of the event, unlike other payment plans.
How can I market PayPal to my customers?
In a few ways. If you’ve got a content marketing strategy, you could start with a blog post. Note down all the ways customers can benefit from using PayPal at checkout and post it to relevant social channels.
Then, repurpose the takeaways from that post into a series of graphics. They can be used as images on the blog post and across platforms like Instagram and Twitter. It’s a quick way for your customers to get the facts in an eye-catching manner.
As a promoter, you’ll know: the sales cycle often spikes at different times. So, it’s a good time to push the feature when your event is coming up soon.
A word on disputes
PayPal offers a dispute resolution service.
But what does this mean for promoters?
Well, it can lead to a small increase in disputed transactions. A customer can open a dispute any time after the payment has been received. There is a twenty-day window to settle the dispute.
So, please ensure that you provide quick responses to customers when they are unhappy. Should the customer be unsatisfied with the solution provided and they may further the dispute to a claim which is similar to a chargeback. Please note, a customer cannot escalate it to a claim until 7 days after payment has been received.
When a dispute or claim is raised, a £12.50 + VAT admin fee will be applied to your account.
Rest assured, as always, that as part of the Skiddle service and as your ticket platform, we’ll endeavour to defend disputes and claims with commitment.

So, that’s how PayPal will work on Skiddle.
Before we go, let’s recap the benefits quickly.
Pay In 3: Customers can make a last-minute purchase, free from the drawbacks of spending a large amount of money in a short space of time. You can take advantage of that in your marketing. And don’t worry: you’ll still receive the full face value of the ticket. Any disputes? They’re between PayPal and the customer.
Conversions: By streamlining the payment process, you can get more conversions. The customer experience is made easier, which makes them more likely to buy. They might pass that information on to their friends, too.
