How to sell more Halloween event tickets by listing early

Halloween may be three months away, but for event organisers, the selling season starts now.

As August arrives, customer interest in autumn plans begins to rise, and Halloween listings start appearing across Skiddle in growing numbers. Now’s the right moment to get ahead and build awareness of your events, ensuring they’re well-placed and ready to capitalise when demand peaks.

You may be tempted to wait. Why devote time and budget to an event happening in October when attention spans are so short?

The answer: because listing early gives you a longer, more valuable sales window. Your competitors are already listing their Halloween events, and you should be too. Don’t miss out on your market share of customers by holding off on publishing your listings.

Google Trends shows interest in “Halloween” beginning to climb from mid-August, increasing sharply towards the end of September and peaking in October. “Halloween events” is also among the most commonly searched related terms during this period.

Our own sales data tells a similar story. Events with longer sales windows consistently perform better than those listed nearer to October 31st, especially when their ticketing strategy and marketing plan are in place from day one.

Start selling early with the right ticket strategy

Early-bird tickets are not just a way to reward the keenest customers. They give people a reason to buy now rather than wait until later.

With household budgets still under pressure, an affordable advance tier can be the difference between a customer booking today and forgetting about your event altogether. Build early-bird offers into your launch messaging and give budget-conscious fans a clear incentive to commit.

It is also worth highlighting the split-payment options available at checkout on Skiddle. For tickets priced at £20 or more, customers can use Pay Later with PayPal Pay in 3, helping to make Halloween plans feel more manageable.

Discount Codes can add another effective nudge at launch. Use a limited code to build initial momentum, or, if you are an established Halloween brand, reward customers who attended a previous event with an exclusive offer – a simple way to encourage repeat custom and strengthen loyalty.

Put new events in front of people already interested

If you run multiple events, creating an Event Brand and Brand Page can help you turn previous customers into future ticket buyers.

Create a dedicated landing page for all your upcoming events and give fans the option to follow your brand. When you launch something new, like a ghost hunt or a series of pumpkin-picking sessions, followers and previous customers will receive an automatic notification, putting your event in front of an audience that has already demonstrated an interest in what you do.

Keep momentum going throughout the sales cycle

Most sales on Skiddle happen at the beginning and end of an event’s sales cycle. The challenge is maintaining interest in the quieter period between the two.

A strong early-bird launch can help. When lower-priced tiers start to sell through, it creates urgency for customers who are still considering a purchase. Use your marketing channels to keep people informed, celebrate ticket milestones and highlight when a price rise is approaching.

The goal is to make early demand visible. It encourages action, supports word of mouth and helps turn interest into ticket sales well before the final rush.

Save time on recurring Halloween events

Halloween events are often held over multiple dates with varied entry times and changing demand. That can mean a lot of admin, unless you have the right setup.

Event Series lets you create and list up to a year’s worth of recurring events in minutes. It’s ideal for organisers running several dates across October, freeing up time for the more pressing tasks on your list – from confirming logistics to nailing your marketing plans.

Event Series can also be paired with Session-Based Ticketing to create timed entry slots across each date in your Event Series.

For example, a pumpkin-picking experience could offer one-hour arrival sessions from morning through to evening. You choose the capacity for each slot, giving you more control over customer flow, staffing and how effectively you use your site.

It also means you can make smarter pricing decisions. Add Pricing Bands to different dates within an Event Series: use peak or super-peak pricing for high-demand weekends, and off-peak pricing to encourage bookings on quieter midweek sessions. You can even add date-specific promotions across timed sessions to give slower slots an extra push.
