Just a quick note to say we’ve added a new guide page to the site, namely a Burns Night Guide.

Burns Night is a traditional Scottish festivity that’s celebrated throughout the UK, taking place on the 25th January to celebrate the birth of Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns. Burns Night is rapidly becoming a rival to St Patrick’s Day in terms of trans-national cultural events.

If you’re planning to hold some kind of Burns Night Celebration make sure you get it listed on Skiddle. Simply include the term Burns Night somewhere in the listing and we’ll make sure it finds its way into the Burns Night Guide.

You might wonder if Burns Night is really worth bothering with, especially with it being the week before the first payday of the new year, however these events can cost very little to put on and attendance can be boosted due to the increasing celebration of diversity of cultures that are being celebrated in the UK.

The vast majority of people born in the UK have got a bit of Scots in them somewhere, the rest of us lucky enough to be born in the UK but who can’t trace our ancestry through to Scotland, it’s about time that we celebrate our joint history with much more vigor and gusto. Celebrating Scottish culture through Burns Night is a great way to look at this.

To get your Burns Night included on Skiddle all you need to do is login to our Promotion Centre and create a listing – we’ll do the rest. We pick out all events with keywords such as Burns Night or Burns Supper or Burns or if your event takes place on or around 25th January then  you can rest assuered you’ll be included in our Burns Night Guide.
