Skiddle Update: The new COVID rules, scanner hire, customer and account support over the festive period

What a crazy week it’s been. From public outrage over forbidden ministerial parties to the timely introduction of brand new COVID restrictions – there’s a lot for us to digest and get through, with particular regard given to your upcoming events.
We’ve also got a few updates of our own to share, including information about when to get your orders in for event scanners and when our customer care team will be in the office and available over the festive break.

Covid Passes to be introduced in venues from December 15th
Covid passes are set to be introduced in the UK from Wednesday 15th December. In a press briefing yesterday, the government announced that proof of vaccination or a negative lateral flow test will be required to enter nightclubs and venues where large crowds gather. This includes unseated indoor venues with more than 500 people, unseated outdoor venues with more than 4000 people and any venue with more than 10,000 people.
Events are still being given the go-ahead to run over the festive period as the government implements Plan B. This means that no venues are closing and that your events should (fingers crossed) still have the all-clear to go ahead.
Our data shows that most tickets for New Year’s Eve events, year-on-year, are bought in the second week of December. If you haven’t already made your listings live, now is definitely the time.
Should the unthinkable happen and we enter another partial or full lockdown before December 25th, you might want to consider postponing your event until the dust has settled in 2022. For more information on how to do this, click or tap – here
Final dates for scanner hire
Looking to hire out a scanner or two for your events over Christmas and the New Year? Get your orders to us by Friday 17th December! Speak to your account manager and they’ll see that your Rapid Scan order makes it to you in time for the forthcoming festivities.
Scanner hire fee’s start at £50 per handset. Multiple scanners can be ordered with bigger discounts applied the more you order. Hire price includes, online support, charging device/s and relevant cables.
Scanners will be sent out via special delivery on the following dates:
- Christmas and Boxing Day events – Wednesday 22nd December 2021
- New Years events – Wednesday 29th December 2021

Customer support over the festive period
Although they may seem to possess superhuman qualities, our hard-working customer care team, like most of us, need to take some time every now and again to rest, recuperate and be with family and friends, especially over Christmas and the New Year.
