The Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) has announced a new partnership with global sustainability and engineering consultancy Stantec to launch a dedicated noise helpline for festival organisers.
Available exclusively to AIF members, the helpline will offer expert advice on noise control, helping promoters manage sound levels more effectively at their events. The initiative arrives at a time when noise concerns are drawing increasing attention, particularly in urban areas, including the recent legal challenge brought by campaigners against festivals in Brockwell Park.
The helpline will be supported by a webinar hosted by Stantec, focused on best practice in noise management. The session will explain how sound travels from event sites, dispel common misconceptions, and introduce new monitoring and control techniques.

“Good communication between acousticians and event production teams is essential in achieving the best possible event experience for partygoers and local residents alike,” said Eddy Goldsmith, Technical Director at Stantec.
Phoebe Rodwell-Carson, Membership Services and Events Manager at AIF, added: “Problems around noise can drive a wedge between music events and surrounding residents, which is the last thing any independent promoter would want. By equipping members with essential tools and knowledge, this initiative aims to mitigate potential disruptions and strengthen community ties during festival events.”
The collaboration with Stantec follows the Fallow Festival Fund, which was launched at AIF’s annual Festival Congress and created to provide support to festivals that have had to cancel or postpone in 2025.
