The Production Services Association (PSA) has announced the launch of the PSA Training Bursary Scheme, a new initiative developed in collaboration with Precision Broking and AXA Insurance. The scheme, set to debut in January 2025, aims to address the critical skills shortage currently affecting the live events industry.
The bursary, which was inspired by feedback from a recent member survey, will help PSA members access essential training programmes tailored to production and live events. With a total fund of £25,000 allocated for 2025, members can apply for up to 25% of their course costs, capped at £250 per application.

Liz Madden, PSA Co-chair, emphasised the importance of professional development: “This initiative supports courses that align with our members’ roles, covering areas such as lighting, sound, rigging, AV, special effects, and stage automation. It also includes training for physical and mental well-being or accredited safety courses, ensuring our members are equipped with the latest industry standards and safety practices.”
Tom Rees, PSA Co-chair, highlighted the generosity of donors in making the scheme possible: “Our goal is to help members enhance their skills, expand their networks, and raise industry standards. This is a unique opportunity to invest in professional growth and elevate careers in the dynamic world of live events and production.”
Applications for the bursary will open on 6th January 2025, with a simple application process available on the PSA website. Members are encouraged to seize this opportunity to advance their expertise and bolster the future of the live events industry.
