Airbnb has taken a major step into the live events space with its first global music partnership, teaming up with Lollapalooza festivals around the world to bring exclusive, curated fan experiences.

This move marks a significant evolution of Airbnb’s offering, aligning with the company’s wider relaunch of Airbnb Experiences: a core part of its ambition to provide travellers with more than just places to stay, but also access to unforgettable, locally rooted activities and events.

Coming to Lollapalooza

The partnership will see Airbnb deliver curated fan moments at Lollapalooza festivals in Berlin, Chicago, São Paulo, and Mumbai. These experiences – available directly through the Airbnb platform – will include:

  • Behind-the-scenes festival tours with event directors
  • Intimate artist sets, including a private post-show gig by BUNT. at Lollapalooza Berlin
  • Photography masterclasses from professional music photographers
  • Access to on-site Airbnb lounges for fans to unwind and connect

These offerings build on the broader relaunch of Airbnb Experiences, which now includes thousands of curated activities in over 650 cities worldwide. The goal? To make it easier for users to discover unique, immersive activities tied to their travel and now, to the festivals they attend.

Why This Matters for Event Organisers

This partnership reflects a clear trend: audiences are seeking seamless experiences that connect live events, travel, and lifestyle. Airbnb’s integration of festival moments into its accommodation platform puts event-related discovery in front of millions of global users, giving fans a reason to plan earlier, stay longer, and spend more locally.

For festival promoters and event organisers, it sends a powerful message:

  • Audiences expect more than just a headline act: They’re increasingly drawn to immersive, meaningful experiences around the main event.
  • Integrated partnerships drive value: Accommodation providers, travel brands, and tech platforms are key players in enhancing the end-to-end fan journey.
  • There’s a growing appetite for curated extras: Whether it’s a behind-the-scenes tour, pre-party, or branded chill-out zone, added experiences can help you stand out and upsell.

Skiddle’s Take

At Skiddle, we know that the best events aren’t just about what happens on stage – they’re about everything that happens around them.

As platforms like Airbnb continue to blur the lines between travel, accommodation, and live events, the opportunity for forward-thinking promoters is clear: think bigger than just your ticket and start crafting experiences that turn attendees into lifelong fans.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on how this partnership develops. To stay up to date with the latest event industry news and insights, follow us on Instagram and LinkedIn.
