The Showman’s Show has partnered with sustainability consultancy Green Circle Solutions (GCS) to measure the full carbon footprint of its 2025 event.
GCS will supply its Event Carbon Calculator, which enables detailed tracking of emissions from exhibitor builds, logistics, and on-site operations. Exhibitors will be invited to submit data in advance, with final reporting to take place after the event.
The calculator uses the latest emissions factors from DEFRA and DESNZ, and aligns with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, giving organisers and participants a standardised method to measure and manage their environmental impact.
This new partnership builds on previous sustainability measures already in place at the show. These include Liftshare and free shuttle buses to promote lower-carbon travel, a partnership with Onboard Earth to balance travel emissions, and waste, water, and energy reduction efforts.

Since 2014, total waste at the event has fallen from 17 tonnes to 6 tonnes, energy use has halved, and single-use cups have been replaced with reusable alternatives. Composting toilets and water-saving infrastructure have also helped reduce consumption across the site.
Event Director Johnny Lance said the new initiative would fill a key gap in their reporting. “We already measure contractor and visitor impact. The missing component is the exhibitor contribution, which will be significant to our overall footprint.”
David Humphreys, Director at Green Circle Solutions, described the collaboration as a strong example of how organisers can embed sustainability into planning and delivery. “This approach shows how practical tools can support greener events.”
The Showman’s Show takes place on 22nd & 23rd October 2025 at Newbury Showground, Berkshire.
