The countdown to one of the biggest party nights in the calendar, New Year’s Eve is well underway! In just a few weeks, people of all ages around the globe will gather in their masses to bid farewell to another year and welcome in the next, and they’ll be hunting for events to mark the grand occasion accordingly on Skiddle.

Competition as always will be fierce, with event organisers across the nation doing their utmost to attract attention to their events. That’s why it’s important to ensure that you’re promoting yours as effectively as possible.

To help you optimise your listings, we’ve put together a New Year’s Eve checklist, helping you tick off the crucial aspects of the event management process and ensure your end-of-year bash is primed to take the maximum amount of sales.

Here, you’ll find information on listing your event, considerations for ticketing strategies as well as marketing and promotion, event day preparation, contingency plans and more. Plus, we’ll touch upon the numerous free features, tools and services available to event organisers using Skiddle, that could help transform your New Year’s Eve experiences into hugely successful occasions.

Pre-Event Planning

Listing Your Event

For those new to Skiddle, here’s a very brief overview of how to get your events listed.

Firstly, you’ll need to register for your free Skiddle Promotion Centre account. It’s a painless experience that takes no more than a few minutes to complete. We promise.

Then, once you’ve nailed the concept of your event, secured your venue and arranged the talent, it’s just a case of hitting ‘Add Your Event’ in the left-hand navigation menu of the Skiddle Promotion Centre dashboard, and following the event flow; choosing the category of your event, adding the name of your event, the date of your event, and your tickets.

Once you’ve added all the necessary information, simply publish your event and voila! Tickets to your New Year bash can now be purchased on Skiddle. No authorisation process necessary.

Getting Your Ticketing Strategy Right

Before launching your event, it’s vital to consider your ticketing strategy. But what exactly is a ticketing strategy, you ask? Simply put, it’s a plan that ensures your ticket sales are optimised to drive revenue while delivering a smooth and satisfying experience for your attendees.

A strong ticketing strategy blends thoughtful pricing structures – like early bird discounts and tiered pricing – with the right sales channels, such as social media and email platforms. Paired with targeted marketing campaigns and data-driven insights, ticketing strategies empower organisers, such as yourselves, to create demand, boost sales, and fine-tune their approach.

Giving thought to your ticketing strategy is essential to the overall success of your New Year listings. Not only does it help you maximise attendance and revenue, but it also builds a foundation for long-term growth, setting your brand apart in an increasingly competitive market.

Planning Your Marketing

We’ll keep this short. Everyone is aware of the importance of promoting an event (If this is news to you, where have you been? There are plenty of resources and free features to help get word of your event out to the masses on Skiddle. Visit the Promotion Centre blog, check out our how-to video tutorials or read through our insightful help articles for more).

There’s A LOT of noise to cut through to battle for the limited attention of eventgoers surfing the web, scrolling through social media platforms and the inboxes of their email accounts. Thinking outside the box is essential. If you have the budget, use more traditional means of marketing such as flyering, or rely on guerilla marketing tactics and organise a mini pop-up event, for example, to promote the big one on the ultimate day/night of the year. You could also make use of our impressive E-flyer service to reach audiences within your local area. Discover how to book an E-flyer.

The final piece of advice – when it comes to marketing – get yourself a content calendar! Plan in your creative to help promote your events over key dates, the likes of Mad Friday, which also tends to be around the final pay date of the year, to increase ticket sales.

Depend on Skiddle Features

There’s a wealth of free features available to help you get the most out of your New Year events on Skiddle. Some of the more applicable tools to the time of year include Re:Sell and Waiting List.

Re:Sell is our official ticket resale platform, designed to provide customers who can no longer attend your event with a safe and secure way to sell their tickets. By enabling Re:Sell, you can increase the chances of taking more sales to your end-of-year celebrations, while giving customers the reassurance of a reliable platform to recoup the cost of their tickets.

Waiting List, on the other hand, gives your customers a fair chance of securing tickets to your New Year event, should tickets sell out. Best of all, Waiting List is applied automatically when your event sells out. All your customers have to do is enter their details to receive an alert and we’ll inform them when more tickets become available.

The features don’t end there, however. You can find our full inventory of features and get details on using them like a pro over at Help.Promotioncentre.co.uk. For the visual learners among you, check out our Promotion Centre how-to video tutorials.

Event Day Preparation and Checks

You’ve sorted your venue, your artists, the theme of your event, and your listing on Skiddle has been published. Your ticketing strategy has proved to be flawless and your content calendar of standout ideas is doing the business across your channels. New Year’s Eve has finally arrived.

All that’s left is to run those final checks and ensure everything is in place for your end-of-year event. Take a look at our checklist below to make sure you’re fully prepared for your New Year’s spectacular:

Confirm Staffing

Got a team of staff helping you at your event? Maybe you’ve got some handy volunteers stepping in to assist or an external security team manning the doors? Make sure you’ve contacted them to confirm their times of arrival and working schedules.

Check Your Equipment

A simple one to miss off your checklist – be sure to give all your equipment the once over before the doors to your event open. The last thing anyone wants is a party without a soundtrack on New Year’s Eve.

Contact Your Guest List

If you have a guest list for your New Year’s Eve bash, you’ll need to let them know the details of their arrival. Perhaps their a VIP or an artist that you require to arrive via a different entrance. You might still need to issue them their tickets. If this is the case, you can use our Guest List Manager for free to issue their tickets. Get more info on using Guest List Manager

Touch Base With The Venue

Run over the plans of your event one final time with your venue to ensure everyone is reading from the same hymn page. Check that you both have the correct opening and closing times, make sure the bars are stocked correctly and that security at the venue, if applicable, is confirmed.

Download RapidScan

The last thing you need is hundreds or thousands of disgruntled fans waiting outside your event, exposed to the elements as you struggle to check tickets at the door. Make sure your customers enter quickly and with smiles on their faces by utilising our free-to-download RapidScan app.

Our innovative ticket scanning solution, RapidScan is available to both iPhone and Android users.

Create A Backup Plan

Even the most organised of plans sometimes fail, that’s why it’s important to have contingencies or back up plans in place. If an artist you’ve booked can’t make it due to, for example, adverse weather conditions, not completely out of the question in December, make sure you have a list other acts that might be available to step in at short notice.

Schedule Last-minute Marketing

If you’ve arrived at this point and checked off all the previously mentioned, your event is 99.9% ready to go! Congratulations! That last item on the checklist – sending out last-minute marketing!

Customers more often than not tend to buy their tickets in the final days before the event takes place, a trend widely observed over the past year on Skiddle. Therefore, it’s vitally important that you’re using your channels to promote last-minute sales, to boost your revenue and ensure a mega start to 2025.

And there you have it! With every detail accounted for and each task checked off, you’re all set to deliver an unforgettable New Year’s event. If you’ve worked through our checklist and ensured everything is in place, you’re ready to ring in 2025 with confidence.

But don’t stop there! Post-event actions are just as important. To improve your future New Year’s Eve events, be sure to:

  • Follow up with your customers and send thank-you emails or surveys to gather valuable feedback from attendees
  • Review analytics and dive into your ticket sales, customer insights, and social media engagement to measure your event’s success

Let the countdown begin – here’s to a successful New Year!
