In a pioneering move for the UK festival scene, Shambala Festival 2025 has announced it will operate all cooking and shower facilities using 100% biogas. The initiative, delivered in partnership with Festival Gas, replaces traditional fossil fuels with a renewable alternative made from UK-sourced organic byproducts.
This shift reinforces Shambala’s reputation as one of the industry’s most environmentally conscious festivals and sets a new standard for others looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
Proven Impact and a Long-Term Commitment
Shambala’s biogas milestone builds on a legacy of sustainability. The festival has already reduced its carbon footprint by 90%, eliminated single-use plastics, and runs entirely on renewable electricity. It has also served a meat- and fish-free menu for nearly a decade, decisions that continue to place environmental impact at the centre of its operations.
What This Means for Event Organisers
For promoters and organisers, this achievement highlights what’s possible with careful planning and the right partnerships. Shambala proves that major festivals can transition to renewable energy without compromising quality or experience.
As sustainability becomes a growing priority for audiences and stakeholders alike, Shambala’s biogas-powered model provides a clear, actionable example of how to future-proof your event while making a meaningful difference.
