Refreshers Week? What’s that? You’d be forgiven for never having heard of it.
A lesser-known party period in an already stacked annual event calendar, Refreshers Week – running through late January and into February – has become increasingly popular over recent years. It’s grown so popular in fact, that sales to student events observed on Skiddle through January thus far have almost tripled when compared to 2023.
Following on from the more widely recognised Freshers Week, held in the autumn, Refreshers provides event organisers such as yourself with a golden opportunity to reconnect with the undergraduate population after the Christmas and New Year break – perfectly timed with the arrival of the first student loan payment of the year. Cha-ching! It also offers a route to build awareness of your brand or event, ensuring students know you’re the go-to for shindigs in your area throughout 2025.
With the academic year starting for most this week, there’s no better time to get your Refreshers event listed or, if you already have events planned for late January and February, to think about how to promote your existing occasions to the wave of students eager to dive back into university life.
To help you succeed during Refreshers Week 2025, we’ve gathered a selection of tips from our expert team. Read on for more.
Use Skiddle Reps
Skiddle Reps allows you to harness the power of eventgoers to supercharge promotion, drive ticket sales and improve attendance. Simply select the events for which you want to enable Reps, and let fans sell your tickets for you using unique links in exchange for cash or rewards set by you. Perfect for those students who might have already misplaced a large part of their student loan.

Promote Your Events in Dedicated Student Groups
There are hundreds if not thousands of dedicated student groups on social media platforms for universities right across the UK. Find your captive audience and, making sure you adhere to the rules of the group, promote your events directly to those interested in attending your events.

Optimise Your Event Listings
To increase the chances of eventgoers finding your Refreshers Week events through search, you’ll need to ensure your listing is up to scratch. Boost SEO by optimising keyword usage, improving readability, and by refining page structure for a better user experience. Make sure your content is also regularly updated to stay relevant and refine meta tags to help improve rankings and click-through rates.
– Terry Banks, SEO Manager
Offer Discounts
Student loans don’t stretch as far as they once did, with the cost of living crisis limiting students’ disposable income for events. Offer a limited-time ticket discount during Refreshers Week to meet their needs and build loyalty towards your event or brand, or require newsletter sign-ups to access the deal, ensuring future engagement.

Collaborate with Student Unions and Businesses
Build relationships with the businesses and spaces where your target audience hangs out. Student unions provide direct access to the student demographic through trusted networks, while local businesses offer sponsorship, cross-promotion, and unique offerings to improve the overall experience of your events.
