ASM Global is doubling down on its commitment to grassroots music venues (GMVs), expanding its partnership with the Music Venue Trust (MVT) to help protect the future of GMVs. The move underscores the importance of grassroots venues in sustaining the UK’s live music ecosystem and fostering the next generation of talent.
Since first committing to MVT in 2023, ASM Global has implemented a range of initiatives to aid grassroots venues. These include providing health and safety, mental health and wellbeing, and marketing training. ASM Global has also offered promotional support for venues and artists through digital channels and in-venue marketing. Additionally, the company has donated over 100 items of stage and venue furniture to independent venues, with contributions from venues such as OVO Arena Wembley.
ASM Global has also partnered with artists to boost fundraising efforts. A recent campaign with Enter Shikari at OVO Arena Wembley saw the launch of the first arena donation drive for MVT, with customer donations matched by the venue. In another example, AO Arena is contributing £1 from every ticket sold during Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour to MVT.

The expanded partnership will involve ASM venues, including AO Arena, First Direct Arena, and Utilita Arena Newcastle, offering fans opportunities to contribute directly to MVT’s mission. Visitors to these venues will be able to donate at bars and concourse areas or while purchasing tickets online. Weekly audiences of tens of thousands will also see examples of MVT’s work displayed prominently within the venues, further raising awareness of the initiative.
ASM Global Europe president Chris Bray emphasised the importance of grassroots venues as the foundation of the live music industry. “These venues are where artists perform, fans discover music, and the entire industry thrives. At ASM Global, we recognise their critical role and are proud to support Mark and his team at Music Venue Trust in safeguarding their future.”
Mark Davyd, CEO of MVT, praised ASM Global’s ongoing commitment, noting that the company was the first arena operator to respond to the challenges facing grassroots venues post-pandemic. “ASM Global’s support is a vital recognition of the interconnectedness of our industry. Their teams understand and value grassroots venues, and this partnership ensures that the entire live music ecosystem can thrive.”
Funds raised through this partnership will directly support grassroots music venues in ASM’s regional areas, helping to secure their future as cultural and community hubs. The initiative underscores the broader importance of preserving these spaces for the next generation of artists and fans.
