Welcome To Skiddle: Pilgrim

We’re excited to welcome Pilgrim, one of Newcastle’s premier independent music venues, to the Skiddle family.

Located in the heart of the city on Pilgrim Street, the 250-capacity venue has been a cornerstone of Newcastle’s vibrant music scene, where it operated as Hoochie Coochie from 2011.

However, 2025 marks a change. New owners have renamed the venue, commissioned fresh artwork from acclaimed North Shields artist Prefab 77 and installed a new-look bar inside the venue. It now stands as a jewel in the crown of the city’s regenerated Pilgrim Quarter.

Over the years, icons such as Sting, Chaka Khan, Norman Jay, Craig Charles, John Morales, and Don Letts have all passed through Pilgrim’s doors. Alongside these household names, the venue has welcomed up-and-coming acts like corto.alto and hosting Gateshead-based funk and soul duo Smoove & Turrell.

While the name and look of the venue has changed, the vibes certainly haven’t. Pilgrim promises to build on the venue’s dedication to showcasing top artists and emerging talent from the jazz, soul, funk, house and disco world, with over 200 shows booked for 2025.

The venue is also heavily involved with the upcoming MOBO Awards 2025, hosting a MOBO Legacy party this March with a range of soul and hip-hop talent.

With an eclectic programme of live gigs, club nights, and themed events, Pilgrim offers a unique space where music lovers can come together to experience unforgettable performances. We can’t wait to work alongside them.
