While gigs, club nights, and festivals are our bread and butter, we also love the thrill of the beautiful game. So, we’re delighted to welcome Scotland’s biggest football podcast, Open Goal, to the Skiddle fold.

Launched by Simon Ferry, an ex-professional who’s played for major clubs like Celtic, Swindon, Portsmouth, and Dundee, and co-hosted by fellow former professional players Paul Slane and Kevin Kyle, the weekly podcast has thrived since its inception in 2017.

Now an award-winning feature, Open Goal attracts fans from across the globe who tune in to hear candid discussions on Scottish football, covering the latest news and talking points from matches in the Scottish Premiership and lower divisions. The podcast’s direct approach and insider stories provide an unfiltered look into the world of professional football, resonating deeply with its patrons.

Over the show’s 7-year history, a long list of special guests has been invited to share their opinions including notable names such as Jamie Carragher, Kieran Tierney, Andy Robertson, and Jimmy Bullard, not to mention some of football’s most esteemed managers and personalities. Delivering insightful interviews laced with wicked humour and banter, each episode is a must-listen for the avid Scottish football fan.

In addition to the main podcast, Ferry and Co. have also launched spin-off shows like “Open Goal: On The Road,” where guests are interviewed during car journeys, adding a unique twist to their already engaging content.

As EURO 2024 approaches, the podcast is going international, heading out to Germany for two shows in Munich and Cologne. These live shows promise plenty of laughs and stories with some well-known names, getting fans warmed up for Scotland’s opening games against Switzerland and hosts Germany.
