Grassroots music is close to our heart at Skiddle, which is why we’re delighted to welcome Oh Yeah Music Centre to the fold.

The music space has been running since 2007, providing a vital space for up-and-coming musicians to develop their craft and play shows to the public.

Many emerging musicians have passed through the doors of Oh Yeah Music Centre and established ones have, too. The venue has hosted the likes of Snow Patrol, Van Morrison, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and many more.

But it’s not just gigs. The venue hosts the Northern Ireland Music Exhibition, which plots the history of Northern Irish music, starting from folk music and stretching all the way to the modern sounds heard today.

For artists looking for a place to practice, the venue offers several high-end rehearsal spaces supported by The Joe Strummer Foundation and Capital Xtra.

Oh Yeah Music Centre doesn’t just cater to emerging talent through gigs, either. Scratch My Progress is their flagship talent development programme, which recruits 4-5 emerging artists from Northern Ireland, supporting their progress through a structured talent development scheme over 9 months.

Here, Northern Ireland’s musicians of tomorrow are offered mentoring, one to one meetings with industry experts, workshops on funding and songwriting, free rehearsal space and more.

We can’t wait to work with Oh Yeah Music Centre and help them continue to promote grassroots gigs in Northern Ireland. Head HERE to learn more about the venue.
