When potential customers are searching for events near them, it’s vital that your event is listed on the website they eventually land on. The exact website which appears for their search is determined by Google’s ever changing algorithm.
It’s unlikely that if a visitor searches for ‘London gigs‘ that an individual event brand’s website will appear, as Google will favour large brands with comprehensive results. As such, you need to ensure you’re listed on the website that most visitors are likely to visit.
Skiddle have invested heavily in this area, and with our recent website updates, we thought we’d share some of these results with you.
Gigs and Live Music Searches
Below you can see our Google rankings for keywords containing ‘gigs‘. As you can see, Skiddle is within the top 5 results for every city we’ve checked, with 88% of results in the top 3.
Check out our #1 ranking for ‘Festivals‘ from of over 392 million results:

How do we compare with our competitors?
Below is a comparison of Skiddle’s Google rankings compared to our close competitors. We’ve analysed 360 keywords, covering a wide range of music event related terms. The chart below shows how many of those 360 keywords appear on the first page of Google results for each website:
As you can clearly see, Skiddle has much higher search visibility for the keywords analysed, with just over 300 keywords appearing in the top 10 results, compared to less than 50 for our competitors. This prominence ensures that our news content consistently performs well too, frequently outranking competitor’s listings, which means if you want Google visibility for your events Skiddle is the smart choice.
