Safe entry at events is paramount. With so many people coming through the gates of a festival or large-scale event, entry has to run smoothly. But waiting times and organisation play a part, too. The more time your customers have to queue, the more likely it is their experience of your event will be diminished.
RapidScan, our scanning solution, lets you scan one ticket per second and opens the door to many benefits that can combat queues. Our Facilities & Logistics Team look after the RapidScan project, and they understand safety and events like the back of their hand.
Caroline Martin, Event Support Manager at Wannasee LTD, had this to say about the team:
“The importance of ensuring an efficient gate entry for our festival customers cannot be stressed enough. First impressions really do impact on the success of an event and future ticket sales. It is very important that the customer does not have to wait to gain entry and once they approach our lanes, they feel welcomed to the event and are dealt with in a respectful manner. Emilie and her team are key to making this happen and deliver every time we have a Skiddle ticketed event. Emilie and her team deal with any issues very quickly and keep the staff on the lanes motivated. This weekend was challenging for staff and customers due to the extreme weather. It is always a pleasure to work with Emilie and her team.”
We had the pleasure of chatting with the team for the next instalment of our Skiddle Experts series, which shines a light on the work our various departments do. So far, we’ve spoken to our Account Support, Social Media, Paid Media and SEO teams. If you haven’t caught up with those, click the link to have a read.
But for now, let’s hand it over to Ryan and Emilie two members of our Facilities & Logistics Team. Keep scrolling to read all about the work that they do.
What is the day-to-day work of the Facilities & Logistics Team?
Ryan: “The team is responsible for delivering the RapidScan project, which involves the logistics and administration duties that support events across the UK with assets and resources. They are also responsible for building maintenance, vehicle fleet, health and safety and stores.”
How can the Facilities & Logistics Team help promoters with their events?
Ryan: “The main area we cover is managing the expectations of promoters who qualify for on-site support. This includes liaising with internal teams and the promoter to ensure we supply assets that can run our RapidScan app and supervisors to oversee and monitor the technology to ensure our customers get into the event quickly and without issues. We also have assets available to hire should the promoter need this service.”
What are the benefits of using the Facilities & Logistics Team’s services?
Ryan: “When applicable, you can benefit from on-site support, ticket scanners, the ability to upload 3rd party barcodes, and someone on call as an extra precaution. All this combined with regular communication from the team.”

RapidScan is our ticket-scanning solution, why is it such a helpful tool for promoters and where can they download it?
Ryan: “You can get real-time numbers for your event, set up specific ticket filtering, and speed up your entry times using the Rapidscan app and Honeywell EDA devices. The app runs on any mobile device, so for smaller capacity events, why not download it and give it a try?”
What are some of the challenges faced at events you and the team have helped out at and how have you overcome them?
Ryan: “The biggest issue is always a solid connection. Although our devices run offline, they will not sync and provide instant up-to-date numbers unless connected to the network. We have had many issues with Wi-Fi connectivity, but we can overcome this with our backup multi-network SIM cards. Some scanners are compatible and we also have mini routers to fall back on. Although we can not be responsible for site Wi-Fi, we always have a contingency plan just in case.”
Can you share a success story where the team made a significant impact on the success of an event?
Emilie: “In 2024, Kubix Festival, a popular pop and dance event in the North East, returned to Herrington Park in Sunderland. This year, we provided 30 devices for on-site use and three supervisors to manage the high volume of attendees. Our efforts ensured a smooth entry process for everyone, creating a pleasant and less stressful experience for all stakeholders. The biggest challenge was the weather, as an event held on the grounds the week before and continuous rain turned the area into a mudbath. The on-site supervisors not only resolved ticket issues but also effectively closed lanes when necessary and ensured the safest routes for all attendees.”
