Petition Launched to Reverse Ban on DJs at Sa Trinxa

Music lovers are rallying to save one of Ibiza’s most beloved nightlife institutions, Sa Trinxa, after it was confirmed this week that the club will no longer host DJ sets.
The ban was confirmed this week via Instagram, with long-time resident DJ John Sa Trinxa posting: “Ibiza Cancelled. No more DJs at Sa Trinxa.” The post has sparked widespread outcry among fans of the venue, who say the decision marks the end of an era on the island.
Following the news, supporters have launched a petition urging for the ban to be overturned. The petition, which has already gained over 4,000 signatures, describes the decision as an attack on cultural expression. “With no credible reasons, this cherished tradition has come to an abrupt halt,” it reads. “This battle isn’t just about preserving our musical tradition, but it’s also about fighting for our right to cultural diversity and authentic expression.”
Sa Trinxa has long been a fixture in Ibiza’s electronic music scene, opening in the 1970s, and the backlash suggests that any attempt to silence the sound will not go unchallenged.
The petition reads: “This is more than a request. It represents a call to our community authorities, an urge to reconsider the decision and to open up a discussion at the soonest, so as not to lose our last authentic beach club.”
