A groundbreaking new survey, Music Fans’ Voice, has launched to give gig-goers direct input into shaping the future of live music in the UK. The initiative follows a recommendation from the DCMS Select Committee for a fan-led review of live and electronic music – mirroring a similar approach taken in football.

For years, music fans have been central to the success of live events, yet their perspectives have often been overlooked in industry decision-making. The Music Fans’ Voice survey aims to change that by gathering crucial insights on key issues affecting live music, including ticket pricing, grassroots venue protection, and festival sustainability.

“This survey isn’t just about collecting opinions – it’s about driving real, tangible change,” said Fleming. “It’s about empowering fans to have a seat at the table, which up until now, they have not had.”

The initiative has already gained backing from major city regions, including Greater Manchester, London, Belfast, and Glasgow, highlighting the recognition of music’s cultural and economic significance.

Inspired by the success of fan-led reviews in football, the findings of the Music Fans’ Voice survey will be presented to government bodies, industry leaders, and local authorities to inform policies and strategies that support the entire live music ecosystem.

Fleming urges fans across the UK to take part: “We need every music fan to get involved. This is your opportunity to actively shape the future of live music. Take the survey, share it, and make your voice heard.”

The survey is open now. Don’t miss the opportunity to have your voice heard. Head to: musicfansvoice.uk.
