Disability-led charity Attitude is Everything has relaunched its Live Events Access Charter, transforming it into an online learning platform to provide venues and festivals with more comprehensive resources on accessibility.

The charter, which has played a key role in improving access to live events since 2000, offers a framework for venues and event organisers to integrate disability equality into their operations. More than 210 venues and festivals, ranging from grassroots spaces to major outdoor events, have been awarded Charter status for their commitment to inclusivity.

Following a detailed audit and pilot programme, the revamped charter retains its core purpose while introducing a more dynamic approach. The new online platform offers user-friendly resources, templates, and guidance, making it easier for members to implement accessibility improvements. It will also track industry trends, allowing Attitude is Everything to identify areas where further support is needed.

The revised charter now incorporates broader considerations, ensuring that accessibility intersects with sustainability, community engagement, and the experiences of disabled artists and industry professionals. It reflects the charity’s wider activities, including its Next Stage Artist Network and Beyond The Music programme, which support disabled musicians and professionals within the industry.

Paul Hawkins, Interim Managing Director of Attitude is Everything, said the relaunch marks a significant step forward in embedding accessibility as a core value in live events. “We’re confident our new charter will offer greater transparency to venues and audiences while giving them more opportunities to learn new practices and demonstrate tangible change,” he said.

The changes were unveiled at a launch event in London attended by industry figures and supporters. The evening also saw the presentation of the new Live Events Access Charter Awards, recognising the efforts of venues and festivals in improving accessibility.

Alex Covell, Interim Head of Live Events Access at Attitude is Everything, said the new approach moves beyond compliance, aiming to establish inclusivity as a fundamental principle in live events. “This isn’t just about meeting minimum standards—it’s about creating a culture of accessibility across the sector,” she said.

The relaunch has been backed by industry bodies and sponsors, including LIVE, PRS for Music, PPL, Halo, and the MPA, who emphasised the importance of ensuring live events are welcoming and accessible for all.

For venues and festivals looking to improve their accessibility, the new Live Events Access Charter provides a clear roadmap for meaningful change.
