Summer – or, let’s face it, the British version – has arrived. That means two things: a game of Russian roulette, where the lethal weapon is replaced with unpredictable weather patterns and a series of knockout festivals up and down the country, which is perhaps a little bit more fun.
We don’t do many things well in Britain at present, but one thing we do know how to do well? Throw a belting party. From deep house and techno to rock and indie, hip-hop, jazz and soul to drum and bass and UK garage, the sheer choice of music on offer at British festivals is what makes the season so fun.
Running alongside festival season is, of course, the Skiddle Festival Campaign. Over the years, we’ve run campaigns to get the eyes of the event going public on the tireless work you do to deliver these fantastic festivals.
This year, the campaign is called Find Your Perfect Festival, with the marketing team putting their heads together to create something that will get people buying tickets, attending events and having a grand old time.
Today, we pull back the curtain. As we’re sure you’ll know from your own campaigns, a lot of work goes into making the moving parts come together as one, each department working towards the same goal.
In our case, the goal is for customers to find their perfect festival. But what does this mean for you, the festival promoter? Well, it means more ticket sales and people through the gates, which can help you to expand your event further down the line.
So, without further ado, here’s how our Find Your Perfect Festival Campaign benefits your events.
What will the campaign consist of?
To kick things off, the Find Your Perfect Festival Campaign is an online campaign with print ads booked in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, London, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow & Edinburgh. That’s eight major cities in the UK that will see our ads.
Once the public has seen those ads, they’ll be able to log onto the Skiddle website and access our Festival Guide, which is the biggest guide of its kind in the UK. Thousands of events are added to the guide and given a bespoke page, which includes information, FAQs and, of course, a link to buy tickets.
If the British public doesn’t see our print ads, no problem. They’ll be able to hop on Instagram or TikTok for an up, close and personal view of the many festivals happening this year. Our social media team will be on the ground at as many festivals as they can find, capturing first-hand video footage, interviews and chats with attendees.
The team will also be promoting festivals on our social feeds at the start of every month, boosting the articles our content team create – more on that later – and entertaining music fans with humorous content along the way.
Speaking of our content team, they’ve been hard at work. When a festival announces its lineup, the team are quick to mobilise, giving our users all the information they need and a link to buy tickets.
But it’s not just lineup announcements and news. Last month, over 200,000 people descended on Worthy Farm for perhaps the most significant date in the British festival calendar – Glastonbury.
For those who didn’t manage to grab tickets, our team were on hand with the highlights and best sets to watch, helping our users with the dreaded FOMO that comes for many people each year.
However, their work isn’t limited to the UK. The team have compiled the best festivals in Malta, Texas, Spain, Croatia and more, as well as compiling the best festivals by genre and providing our users with information on how to keep their tent cool, the essentials they’ll need at a festival and how to beat festival flu.
On the digital ads front, our paid media team have put together a campaign which runs across Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Google and YouTube. Their ads will target 18-26 year olds on Snapchat with vertical images and videos, as well as using Google to remarket traffic from our Festival Guide.
Across Facebook and Instagram, the team will set up video, carousel and image ads, ensuring we have a variety of content to appeal to potential attendees.

How will this help your events?
Think about how many people walk through the eight major cities we told you our posters and billboards will be running in. It’s quite a lot. So, that means millions of people have the chance to see a Skiddle billboard, have their interest piqued and go on to the website to look for a festival.
Or they might be browsing social media. Our Instagram page has over 46,000 followers, while our TikTok page has over 102,000. This means that potentially, over 148,000 people could see our posts and click on our website to buy tickets for their next festival. That festival? It could be yours.
The same goes for our Festival Guide, too. We receive over 6.5 million users on our website and over 340,000 users on our app each month. A good chunk of those will be browsing for festivals, and if they’ve seen our social media content or our selection of paid ads, they’ll likely be buying for festivals.
Our content team work hard to ensure our articles rank high on search engines like Google. So, when potential event attendees type in terms like ‘best drum & bass festivals’, they’ll be greeted with our articles.
By advertising festivals in eight major cities, through content on our website, via ads on platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat and across our own Instagram and TikTok channels, we’re hoping to reach as many people as possible, which will get people onto the Skiddle website.
The extra traffic to our website will get people browsing our Festival Guide, which in turn, will lead to more eyes on your event. That leads to more ticket sales and success for you.
