Our Development team have been putting in the hard yards lately, working tirelessly to bring you our latest dynamic feature, Session-Based Ticketing.

This fresh addition to the Skiddle Promotion Centre lets you create and sell tickets for events which require attendees to arrive at specific times, such as theatre shows, exhibitions, fairgrounds and scare attractions.

With this feature, you can set and offer various entry times to attendees of your event, giving you greater control over crowd and queue management, whilst improving customer experience and reducing the number of no-shows.

Want to find out more? Keep scrolling to discover how Session-Based Ticketing can benefit you and take your event experience up a couple of notches.

What is a Session-Based Event?

A Session-Based Event is split over multiple entry times. If we take, for example, a theatre show and say each performance in total takes around 2 hours to complete. You’d likely have entry times at 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm and so on.

In the Promotion Centre, you can set specific entry times for your attendees depending on how long it takes for the show to run and for guests to leave the venue, creating different capacities for each slot.

Why Would I Use Session-Based Ticketing?

Let’s stick with the example of a theatre show.

Without Session-Based Ticketing, you’d be left selling tickets without specific time slots, leaving your customers uncertain about when to arrive. This could lead to long queues and frustration as they scramble to secure a spot for their preferred showing. Before you know it, you’d be facing a crowd of unhappy customers, which could harm your brand’s reputation and, ultimately, impact your future ticket sales. And that’s definitely not what anyone wants!

Session-Based Ticketing takes all that away. You’re in control of the time slots, meaning you can set suitable capacities for each time slot, avoiding any overcrowding or slowing down. There is no need for manual timekeeping, either. Both you and your attendees know the time slots. Smaller queues mean your staff also have time to be more attentive, offering attendees knowledge and helping out where they can, instead of having to manage queues.

But it’s not just queue control. With Session-Based Ticketing, you can set up quiet hours and concessionary slots, helping you to make your event inclusive to all. Plus, you can control everything from the Sessions Calendar, which we’ll talk more about in the next section.

How Can The Sessions Calendar Help Me?

The Sessions Calendar is where you’ll control all your sessions. Here, you can create, edit and hide sessions. It’s all in one place, making the feature super easy to use.

Via the Sessions Calendar, you’ll also be able to find a sales breakdown of your sessions. This crucial aspect of the feature allows you to see which timeslots are popular with your attendees. With this information, you can plan your staff accordingly and ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible. You’ll also be able to give attendees a better idea of how busy the event is going to be, improving the customer service experience.

If you find yourself in a situation where you need to make lots of changes, no problem. The Bulk Edit tool will allow you to edit multiple sessions, saving you time so you can focus on other aspects of your event.
