Glastonbury Unveil New Process for Ticket Purchases

Glastonbury Festival has announced a new ticket-buying process ahead of the forthcoming round of sales.

These sales take place on 14th November, and after signing up as usual, hopeful ticket buyers will visit a holding page “at least a few minutes before the sale opens,” say organisers.

When the sale begins, each person “will randomly be assigned a place in a queue to access the booking process.”

Once customers reach the front of the queue, they’ll be asked to enter the registration number and registered postcode for the lead booker and 5 other people for whom they are trying to buy tickets. Organisers say customers will have “10 minutes to complete the details on this page before your session expires.” Ticket allocation will begin once payment has been processed.

Glastonbury’s official FAQ page advises customers against using multiple devices to try and purchase tickets, explaining: “Running multiple devices or tabs simultaneously to attempt to access the website may lead to your IP address being blocked, preventing you from buying a ticket. This also applies to sharing cookies and QueueIDs.”

QueueIDs are codes which denote successful ticket buyers. In the past, hopeful attendees have shared these IDs with others to attempt to jump the online queue.

The FAQ page goes on to say: “Refreshing the page, using multiple tabs or many devices can look like suspicious behaviour and can harm your chances of getting through by triggering anti-bot software; therefore, you must stick to one tab/device per IP address and please do not refresh your page once you are in the queue.”

Registration for Glastonbury Festival tickets closes at 5pm on 11th November. Tickets with coach travel will go on sale at 6pm on 14th November. General admission tickets will go on sale at 9am on 17th November.
