How do I validate my ticket sales on the night of my event?

The Skiddle RapidScan service is ideal for promoters who want to sell tickets in advance but don't need to distribute expensive printed tickets. This allows you to keep costs low and sell right up until your doors close.

Here's how this service works:

What a customer receives

When a customer buys a ticket, they will receive a confirmation by email. They will also receive a link to download their RapidScan barcoded tickets.

Customers can either download our Skiddle iPhone or Android app on their phones, which will download their orders and display their barcodes. If they don't have an iPhone or Android phone, they can also print a PDF of their ticket. Each ticket they buy has a separate barcode.

What the promoter receives

Please download the RapidScan app, for iPhone and Android (please ensure you download the RapidScan app which is for event promoters, not the Skiddle app which is for customers)

Log in to the app using the same details as the promotion centre.

You can then see a list of your upcoming events. Click an event to see a list of customers. You can then:

  • Click scan (top right) to scan customer's barcodes. This is the fastest entry method
  • If a customer can't show their barcode, you can look them up on the list (either by searching at the top, or scrolling the A-Z list).

Customers who are validated on your app will automatically be validated on other devices, as long as there's an internet connection available on the device. This ensures all devices are in near-realtime sync and tickets cannot be duplicated.

All redemption data is also uploaded to Skiddle so you can check your entry figures, and which customers entered, at any time.

I don't have an iPhone/Android phone or tablet to use

You can also print a backup list from the Promotion Centre:

  • Visit promotioncentre.co.uk
  • Log in
  • Click on 'Sell Tickets' menu along the top
  • Then click 'Tickets overview'
  • Click the 'customer lists' above your event tickets.

This list is an optimised A4 print-out, which lists all customers in an easy-to-read A-Z format, sorted by customer surname. 

Please note, using the paper list is much slower than validating customers by using the app. We'd always advise that you only use the list as a backup. If you run regular events, investing in an iPad Mini or Android tablet is well worth the small cost.
